Serve Day Q+A:

What is Serve Day?
Serve Day is one of our largest local outreach efforts across all our campuses, led by our Small Groups. It’s an opportunity to step into our communities and love our neighbors in real, practical ways. This summer, join a Small Group and help serve others and share the love of Jesus through acts of kindness.
Who can participate in Serve Day?
Everyone!  You, your small group members, family + friends, and those who are not in a small group but want to join one (and see what they've been missing) and serve during Serve Day.
How do I plan a Serve Day Project?
Get creative! Assess the needs of people in your neighborhood and in your local communities and plan a project that meets those needs. Check out our list of ideas and other options from local service organizations for ways to get involved.
What should I bring on Serve Day?
Bring any personal items you may need during your project: sunscreen, drinking water, sneakers, a hat, etc. Your Small Group Leader can confirm any project-specific items you may need to bring: gloves, rakes, lawnmowers, tarps, work tools, etc. Work clothes are a good idea for serve opportunities requiring physical labor, and we recommend not wearing jewelry.
How will the church communicate details about Serve Day?
Your Coach, Campus Pastor and Small Group Campus Leader will keep you updated on Serve Day.
What if it rains?
If your Serve Day project is outside, make plans to have an inclement weather option available. Some possibilities include visiting a nursing home, serving at a local service organization, or cleaning classrooms at a local school.
How long is Serve Day?
It depends on your project and what your group decides to accomplish, but most projects take 1-3 hours. After the project, we encourage groups to get lunch or coffee together.
How do people not in a group join my group for Serve Day?
If your group is open to accepting new members, they'll find it in the Small Group Directory starting May 14.  We ask that all Group Leaders register their group (link above), even if it is not "open" to a new person.
Can small groups join together to complete a Serve Day Project?
Yes, two or three groups can do a project together. For example, several moms' groups can help at a pregnancy center, or a couple of men's groups can do a construction/repair project together.
What do I tell someone not in a small group but wants to join a Serve Day Project?
Starting May 14, the Group Directory will list all open groups and their project.   If they can't find one in the directory to join, they can complete a form on the small groups page, and the Campus Pastor or Campus Group Leader will contact them about opportunities.
Who do I contact with questions?
Please contact your Campus Pastor or Small Group Campus Leader with questions.
What if my group is full and we are not currently open to taking new members?
If your group is full and you cannot take new members, then your group will not appear in the Group Directory.
Do I still need to register my group's Serve Day Project even if my group is not taking new members?
Yes, so we can celebrate what your group is doing!
Who pays the cost assoicated with our Small Group's Serve Day Project (supplies, etc.)?
Each Small Group is responsible for the costs associated with their Serve Day project. We recommend spending time planning your project based on your group's size and commitment level.
