Overview

Maintenance Technician

This full-time position reports directly to the Facilities and Property Manager. This person is responsible for ensuring that the facilities and grounds are well maintained and in good working conditions, including keeping a secure, clean, clutter-free campus according to facility guidelines. This position requires a team player attitude, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and project timeline coordination.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in one or more competencies relevant to the job, such as plumbing, carpentry, electricity, painting, plastering, and HVAC systems
  • Previous experience in building maintenance work
  • Be flexible in availability to accommodate the schedule of church activities
  • Conscientious and able to work independently
  • Experience with heavy, motorized equipment
  • Team player with effective relational skills (works well with others)
  • Ability to identify problems and implement solutions
  • Reliable and dependable attendance

Responsibilities

  • Performs job duties according to standard procedure and by building’s operational schedule using all safety practices and policies
  • Keep the church facility clean and well-maintained both inside and outside.
  • Maintain, service, and conduct minor repairs on buildings and equipment as instructed by
    the Facilities and Property Manager
  • Set up and tear down for special events
  • Have a general awareness and knowledge of fire/security systems and procedures
  • Monitor lighting (including parking lot), heating and air conditioning to ensure the comfort
    and safety of guests/staff
  • Perform snow removal including shoveling and spreading ice melt—requires exposure to
    inclement weather for extended periods of time
  • Opens and closes campus according to security procedures
  • Use of hand and power tools in making minor maintenance repairs and maintaining
    grounds
  • An active participant of the ministries and committed to regular weekend attendance
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

  • Regular physical activity, including walking, standing, bending, lifting, carrying, climbing ladders, and moving equipment or supplies
  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally
  • Working on feet for extended periods
  • Completing tasks both indoors and outdoors in a variety of conditions
