Student Leader

The Student Ministry Leader works alongside the Team Leader to create an environment where students, grades 6-12, are encouraged to seek and follow God’s word, positively impact others, and grow spiritually through serving. He or she will connect with students, parents and provide leadership and support to ministry volunteers. The Student Ministry Leader will have a strong work ethic and a team-oriented mindset.  This person will thrive in a fast/flexible work environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in leading student ministry and volunteer teams preferred
  • A self-starter—highly motivated
  • Has a passion for Student Ministries
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A good role model
  • Team player with effective relational skills (works well with others)

Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with the Student Ministry Team Leader to create a strong, vibrant Student Ministry program at the Alton Darby campus.
  • Contributes innovative and creative strategies and excellent resources to the student ministry central team
  • Helps set the vision and goals of student ministries in conjunction with the Student Central Team Leader
  • Supports, encourages and is a champion to the central student team vision and the central team leader
  • Execute the vision in conjunction with the Student Ministry Team Lead and Alton Darby Campus Pastor
  • Model and live out personal evangelism by executing outreach programs, activities, and events that reach students who do not attend Cypress
  • Recruit, train, and develop a highly engaged and motivated volunteer team, ensuring they are well equipped, supported, and encouraged
  • Build student volunteer teams, encouraging students to serve in student ministries and/or in various church ministries
  • Build and maintain quality relationships with parents
  • Lead Cypress Student Ministry to impact the local schools and build relationships and partnerships within the community
  • Connect with 3 or more students weekly, outside of regular services, to build relationships and serve pastoral care and spiritual growth needs
  • Prompt follow-up with all students who are guests at weekly student services or special events 
  • Create a safe environment which protects students
  • Be culturally relevant and innovative in reaching students
  • Attend all staff and team meetings
  • Provide a weekly report following weekend services
  • Complete quarterly goals and quarterly self-assessment by established due dates
  • Other duties as assigned
